Same thing is going on here.  SHUT IT DOWN.  Democrats just want to spend us into oblivion and will not give an inch.  It happened here in the 90's and life continued. Yep, had to wait for a while for some things, but it did not hurt us at all.  Half the State employee's are excited to have a week or two off in the middle of summer, and the other half can't budget their own money and are screaming bloody murder at the lost wages from not working.

So glad you are not prepared for no income, sucks to be you.

Seattle’s minimum wage hike hurting low-level workers.

Seattle, Washington - Fox News - 26 June 2017  ---  Seattle's first-in-the-nation $15 per hour minimum wage law is hurting the workers it aimed to help.

The working poor are making more per hour but taking home less pay. The University of Washington paper asserts the new wages boosted worker pay by 3 percent, but also resulted in a 9-percent reduction in hours and a $125 cut to the monthly paychecks.  The law also cost the city at least 5,000 jobs.

Seattle's minimum wage ordinance, passed by the Seattle City Council and signed by Mayor Ed Murray in 2014, was sold as a way to close the income inequality gap and help those struggling at the bottom of the economic ladder.  More than a dozen cities and counties, mostly in California and New York, followed suit.

The survey/study was done by The National Bureau Of Economic Research.

From their site:

Quote

Founded in 1920, the NBER is a private, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to conducting economic research and to disseminating research findings among academics, public policy makers, and business professionals.

The NBER is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives from the leading U.S. research universities and major national economics organizations.  Other prominent economists from business, trade unions, and academe also sit on the NBER Board.

The board of directors is a non-partisan who's-who of Democrat party donors, including Mohamed El-Erian, one of El Guapo's owners.

I'm actually surprised the results of this survey/study saw the light of day.

"The University of Washington paper asserts the new wages boosted worker pay by 3 percent,"  Wait, What!  That means the wages were already at about $14.50.  I can smell BS without stepping in it. I guess arithmetic is no longer taught in Washington state schools.

Test run for something, or could it simply be teh stoopid calling in an 'active shooter' ?

State Capitol lockdown lifted after troopers search for possible active shooter.

Olympia, Washington - The Olympian - 12 July 2017  ---  State Capitol Campus buildings were locked down just before 10 a.m. Wednesday after a report of someone firing a weapon on the east Capitol Campus.

A number of troopers responded to the scene and searched in the area of the state Department of Natural Resources, state Department of Licensing and Office Building 2.  Workers in the area were evacuated.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and Olympia police also responded to the scene.

Unconfirmed reports have the cause described as a bored-at-her-desk file clerk to a deputy assistant associate supervisor popping cells in bubble wrap.

When asked what happened - off the record, of course - one of the state trooper lieutenants on the scene replied that he didn't know, or really care, because they all got to stand around and pose for photos with their really cool-looking assaul..... um..... service pieces.

Heh.   Had to 'go there'.   I kid because I give a damn.    :f

Curious coincidence as today also happens to be the day my two local hydroelectric power dams are doing 'emergency drills' with nothing short of unidentified mask wearing mercenaries.

Washington State Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib bans all firearms in the state's Senate galleries.

Ammoland, Northwest News Network, NRA-ILA - 29 November 2017  ---  This order, which expands upon a previous order from 2015 that banned the open carry of firearms in Capitol galleries, will now prohibit all firearms.

Furthermore, Lt. Governor Habib’s announcement that this order will be used to help target popular semi-automatic firearms and standard capacity ammunition magazines is just another attempt to stigmatize commonly-owned firearms in Washington state as we head into the 2018 Legislative Session.

This order follows shortly after Attorney General Bob Ferguson renewed his push to ban so-called “assault weapons” during the upcoming session that begins in January.

Y'all know about WA Lt. Gov. Habib ?

I bet Col. Craig does.

Here ya go in a nutshell:

Cyrus Habib was born in Baltimore.

He beat cancer three times - wow, just wow, but lost his eyesight because of itt at a young age - that totally sucks.  Big time.

His mummzy 'n pops weren't born in Baltimore though.  They were born, raised and grew up through adulthood in..... wait for it..... Iran.

There's more.

WA Lt. Gov. Habib worked for Hillary when she was Senator in NY.

Last year, El Guapo campaigned for him.

One of his best buds and mentors is a chap named Harold Koh.   (Yeah, I see the light going on over your head now.  I know you remember that name.)

He's a member of the CFR - Council on Foreign Relations - a far-far-far left individual and national rights-grabbing one-world-agenda-pushing mass of madness.

And to make things even more special, he also teaches law - 'social justice' - at Seattle University School Of Law.

From the National Rifle Association Institute For Legislative Action:

Quote

The Washington State Senate Law & Justice Committee has indicated it will hold a public hearing on multiple gun bills next Monday, January 15 from 10am -12pm.  The committee agenda has not yet been posted for which bills will be heard.  However, anti-gun legislators have already made it clear they are going to push several sweeping gun control bills this year.

One of the typical Democrat-proposed bills will eliminate the 4th Amendment to get to the 2nd Amendment.  That would be Washington State Senate Bill 5463 along with Washington State House Bill 1122.

Another bill proposes full registration and licensing.

Several bills ban - as in confiscation, etc. - anything that can hold ten rounds or more.

They keep doing this over and over and over.  Every time they do there is only one of two results.

1)  It fails.  So they try again.

or

2)  It will pass...  And then is struck down in court on Constitutional grounds (surprise-surprise) to the shock & horror to everyone in support of the ban.

Then they will go off grumbling about that pesky Constitution aaa-gain.  A few years ago there was a report showing how much the State of WA spends on failed bills vs successfully passed laws.  The money spent on fails was disproportionate to the passes like 10 to 1.  This is probably the same in every state.  But out of that 10 they spent on fails nearly half of it was wasted on failed gun control bills!  If they would only put 10% of that energy into jobs creation or streamlining business requirements then our economy would be booming.

I'll offer the following:

President Trump best get on gettin' on appointing federal judges, especially the appeals side.

Also, it would behoove the Constitution of The United States of America if at least two of the leftist activist justices on SCOTUS would disappear before this coming November's election.

Think about that for a bit.

Look at this definition:
(27) "Assault weapon" means:
26 (a) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a
27 detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:
28 (i) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
29 of the weapon;
30 (ii) A thumbhole stock;
31 (iii) A folding or telescoping stock;
32 (iv) A second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by
33 the nontrigger hand;
34 (v) A flash suppressor, muzzle break, muzzle compensator, or
35 threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor, muzzle
36 break, or muzzle compensator;
37 (vi) A grenade launcher or flare launcher;
38 (b) A semiautomatic pistol, or a semiautomatic, centerfire, or
39 rimfire rifle with a fixed magazine, that has the capacity to accept
40 more than ten rounds of ammunition;
p. 5 SB 5050
1 (c) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
2 detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:
3 (i) Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that
4 can be held by the nontrigger hand;
5 (ii) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor,
6 forward handgrip, or silencer;
7 (iii) A shroud attached to the barrel, or that partially or
8 completely encircles the barrel, allowing the bearer to hold the
9 firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned, but excluding
10 a slide that encloses the barrel; or
11 (iv) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at any location
12 outside of the pistol grip;
13 (d) A semiautomatic, centerfire, or rimfire rifle that has an
14 overall length of less than thirty inches;
15 (e) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
16 (i) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
17 of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip;
18 (ii) A folding or telescoping stock; or
19 (iii) An ability to accept a detachable magazine;
20 (f) A shotgun with a revolving cylinder; or
21 (g) A conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which
22 an assault weapon can be assembled if those parts are in the
23 possession or under the control of the same person.

Then:

"Assault weapon" does not include antique firearms, any firearm
25 that has been made permanently inoperable, or any firearm that is
26 manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action.
27 (28) "Detachable magazine" means an ammunition feeding device
28 that can be loaded or unloaded while detached from a firearm and
29 readily inserted into a firearm.
30 (29) "Large capacity magazine" means an ammunition feeding device
31 with the capacity to accept more than ten rounds of ammunition, or
32 any conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which such a
33 device can be assembled if those parts are in the possession or under
34 the control of the same person, but shall not be construed to include
35 any of the following:
36 (a) An ammunition feeding device that has been permanently
37 altered so that it cannot accommodate more than ten rounds of
38 ammunition;
39 (b) A twenty-two caliber tube ammunition feeding device; or
p. 6 SB 5050
1 (c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action
2 firearm.

This means my Ruger 10-22 with the 25 round magazine is an assault weapon. However a semi-auto shotgun with a rifled barrel isn't, unless it has some accessories that make it an assault weapon.
