I hate losing pets.  They are our family.

Guinness has been at vet since 8 A.M. having a battery of tests. This is to see if treatment will give him 6 to 12 months more without pain. Well over $1,000 spent so far. Now at least his medical insurance deductable has been met and insurance will kick in.Could get real expensive but he is worth every penny and more.

Did an awesome escort today. I needed to get out on Piggie. So the county Cops shut down the whole interstate east bound while 100 PGR and support bikes escorted the Wounded warrior soft ball team of amputees to a game. Not WWP as we do not support those that profit form the troops misfortunes. Ok why is this here? Lori sent me on my way when I forgot about it with all else going on. Then she bought me a new kayak on line from Dick's. I pick it up after work. Some redneck got to fat for his beginners kayak. And we may just get Guinness out in it before he is too sick.

Pouring out. New kayak stuffed under overhang at back of house. Guinness is right by my side. Lori had to take him for the test. Girl at vet what test he is not scheduled for a test. They got the full wrath of a Blackfoot squaw! Something they will never forget. No no body bags needed but they I swear are watching their 6. No results yet.

Lori is home from the oncology vet. Guinness had his first chemo today. Vet says 9months to 2 years with treatment. Won't last the summer without. We have pet insurance and a vet care credit card now too. $ going to get tight but he is worth every penny!

What is a normal life span for his breed and how old is he now?  I'm not trying to justify or anything - just curious how long they are usually around.

He will turn seven end of the week. 15 years is not unheard of. 12 to 13 is most common.
Other than the cancer he is a perfect specimen of a CBR at the peak of health and conditioning.

I thought a well kept house cat was good for 15 to 20 years with 22 being extreme.  I just learned nowadays 30 years is not too uncommon!  That news changes our retirement plans a little bit...
